I am still hooked on Ghost Recon (computer). In my opinion a very good military style game. It is also a First Person Shooter type game. You can play against the comp, or go online and play against folks from all over the world.
GRII is due out in November I believe..... Can't wait for that one!!
NightReaver - thanks for the comments. I always try to get on DoD games where I have decent latency (>100). That seems to help the "running through molasses" feeling.
Well for a first person shooter I am partial to "Novalogic Delta Force Black Hawk Down". It has both single player and multiplayer as well as online play. It has been out for about two years now and is really quite inexpensive now. Last I checked you could pick up the game and the "Team Sabre" expansion pack for around $30. In my opinion it is hard to beat. It is pretty realistic and is just plain fun. If you get serious you could eventually join a squad and use a team communication program like "Teamspeak" or "Rodger Wilco" and talk with your teammates across the Internet.
If your on line jump in our server once in awhile.
Delta force games are always good. And they dont take too much to run them. If I can play it here at work on this POS than you should be good. If you have good online connection then the best game is Wolfenstine Enemy Territory.
Guys, this may be old school, but Age of Empires II, and Age of Empires II: The Conqueror's Expansion. It's a realtime strategy battle game. It's from year 2000, so it is old. Low computer resources are necessary. Online gaming is awesome too. It's got all you'll ever need. I wasted an entire summer playing this game in early high school. I'm still addicted, and it never gets old. Only 30 dollars will buy you the two pack. I would 110% recommend this game to anyone, any age. It takes place in the middle ages, lots of features. It's a blast! Buy it, seriously. You'll love it.
Diablo 2 and the Expansion Set are great. Rainbow Six 3--Raven Shield is awesome. Return to Castle Wolfenstein is also quite a good game and wont melt your computer.
I dont think Halo on the computer is as good as on the X-box......just doesnt play right.
Far cry was just awesome. The scenery is just beautiful, the story is pretty good. In fact, I'm gonna play it again, this time on the hardest level.
If you choose Doom3, well, I hope your neighbors can't hear you scream. That is a scary game. It took me a long time to beat it too, which is a plus since I enjoy a good single player game. But this game will make you scream.
I also found a pretty cool game, it's called, simply, Alien Shooter. http://www.realore.com/alienshooter/
I just got to play the trial mode, but it is addictive. Check it out.
That's the truth. My P4 1.8Ghz with Nvidea 4400 128Mg can run it only with the graphics turned almost all the way down.
Unfortunately, the ability to play Doom 3 will not convince the wife that a new computer is needed.
My Gateway has 512 MB of ram, a 2.6 Ghz P4, so the only thing that it lacks is a good video card. I played through Doom 3 with the lowest graphic settings, and on a small screen, and it still did not play smoothly. Problem is, the GE force 5900 vid card costs over $200 wherever I can find it.
So, since I got through the game, I am going to wait for a while to upgrade to the 5900. It should get cheap after a while.
I like Doom 3, because it is challenging, but not a pain to get through. I got hooked on fps games when I played Return to Castle Wolfenstein. It is also a very good game.
Grand Theft Auto is a good choice. I've never realy played them and I was at a friends house and he was playing gta3 and I was hooked. I went to circuit city and they had gta vice city and this one is way better, the makers really got more involved with this one. GTA San Andreas is comming out next and I'm getting it soon as it comes out for the computer which is next spring. They keep getting better with the series, I can't wait to find out how much better the next one is gonna be.
