irratic temp guage

my truck never warms up into the normal range(according to the guage), i get warm heat not so much hot but i notice that if the truck sits idling it will reach the middle of the guage but as soon as i drive it wil slowly make its way down to the low end ot the normal range not even to the N. i dont knoww hat this would be. anyone please help.

Sounds like you had a thermostat that's stuck open. Piece of cake to replace. One of the cheapest, easiest repairs you can do.

mine has been doing the samething since i got it. I always stays halfway or lower between the n and that little line between C and N. Could this be due to a lower temp thermostat.

well, if it's like mine, it stays pretty cool as it is. I've got that oil cooler, and that keeps it lower than normal I think. Not substantially... definately sounds like a thermo problem. waddya guys think? 5 dollars? 7 dollars with the new gasket?
