Question

Where did you find this number?? Chilton's says the engine ID tag is located under the ignition coil attaching bolt on most engines except the 6.9L and 7.3L diesels. Engine ID format seems to be different from what you found.

Are you needing to know if it is a 302 or 351w? A 351w messure across the intake it should be 11 inchs a 302 is 9 inchs. The numbers you posted says it an engine that was cast in 1984.

It was on the block above the starter. I am trying to determine if it is a 302 or a 351W

Easiest way to tell a 351W from a 302 is this; look at where the head meats the block. If it's a 302 there will be little distance between the head and where the timing cover is. If there is about an 1", its a 351W.
