I have a 2000 X w/7.3 PSD. I bought mine used and have been totally pleased with it. Mine has 90k on it. The warranty is 5/100,000. The only problem I have had is the cam sensor went out on it. I took it to the dealership since the deductable is $100 and the part would have been around $75 from International Dealer. They found another sensor going bad and replaced it as well. The cam sensor is a common problem that you will see in the forums on the 7.3 PSD.
So, the factory 100,000 will apply to my used vehicle too????
Yes, I got mine used at 6X,XXX miles, they had no problem honoring the warranty, even with the extensive modifications. Although they did try to charge me 1hr ($87.50) to put smaller tires on it so they could reach the engine to perform the work.
I'm the second owner of an '01 PSD Excursion. First owner decided to get rid of it when it crossed out of the 100,000 mile warranty last year. I've got almost 145,000 on it now. Not a problem one, to the best of my knowledge. I just keep rotating the tires, changing the oil, adding fuel and tossing in a little Diesel Kleene on a regular basis.
Now go get that one before someone else snatches it up first.
Just talked to the dealer and if they can come down on the down payment to what my retro warranty buy back on the expedition is ($900 they want $2600 down), I'll take it. As I have done all this over the phone I still need to test drive it and look underneath the hood and the chassis.
I need to test drive too. I will be turning the defroster/heater on to see if they masked a smoker, and running the ac to see if it will pump it out. I want to take it up to 90 mph on a bumby road to see how it handles and hit the brakes to see if it shudders.
