That's exactly what I did too, but it was kind of messy and my wife didn't want me to use her cooking pots for that purpose. I'm assuming that CBR900 is as terrified of his wife as I'm of mine
hey thanks guys, no I am not terrified of my wife I wear the pants in this house, when my wife has finished with them that is. One other problem my can of freon is a 30lb jug so how am I going to heat that up, and is it safe to do so?.
Where do you get a 30lb jug of R-134? Isn't it kind of an overkill? Anyway, I used a standard 12oz can you buy at the autoparts stores and those things get cold very quickly, thus reducing the pressure. However, with a 30lb jug, I don't think you would have that problem. Just run the A/C and rev up the engine, that ought to do it. The A/C has to be running, however. You may have to pull the connector at the receiver and jump a wire across to keep the A/C running.
A method I used for years when adding freon to a low system was feeling the lines going into the evaporator, both should feel about the same temperature, also the lines should get very cold and produce a sweat. So, when the lines are cold and produce a sweat your compressor should cycle normally thus you have enough freon in the system. As I live in Florida and have plenty humidity year round it works for me. However I don’t know if it would produce the same results in the dry regions. Be careful not to over charge.
