Tranny swap???
Here's the background: 1971 F100 w/390 and an NP435. both with 50,000 mi. Origally had 302/c-6. how much work would it be to put the auto back in? I can get my hands on a c-6 from a 352 with a ratchet shift for dirt cheap. Also the clutch on the current setup is gone. so now is the time to do the swap. Will my driveshaft (2piece) fit? will i need to move the crossmember? what else have i frogotten? --thanks--Nick

Nick it surely is easier to go to auto, than to SD. If you want to go to a one piece drive shaft, just make sure that you have the correct ends and a drive shaft company can make one for you. There should be one near you. Moving the cross member is no big problem, you might have to drill new holes. Does ratch shift mean floor? If it doesn't you will need a new column.
