My old man has a 04 FX4, 45,000 km and every now and again, the transfer case gets stuck. It's done it 3 or 4 times. He's had it to the dealer twice to get it looked at, did nothing. Just wonderin if this is an isolated problem or if anyone else has had this happen too.
ours didnt just get stuck we tore the thing up pullin our boat out of the water. what happened is the driveshaft bolt got sheared off and tore all the gears up... it was great a truck and boat all got stuck in the mud and we had to have 2 others to pull to get us out
I know on the old BW1356's that came in the F150s and broncos, the electronic shifting module that engaged the case would cut out randomly. The connections could come loose from vibration, as well as old age, but still work intermittently. An old trick was to tap the motor, and get it to work again . I dont know what the T-case is in the new F series trucks. Did the dealer outline exactly what they checked?
I had the transfer case replaced at about 15k miles. Everything was fine I was not using 4 wheel drive or hadnt in months. I parked the truck at night again no problems with it, and when I back out to go to work in the morning
it was junk. It sounded like I was dragging metal but it would only make the sound in 2wd drive and when I was accelerating. I had to drive in 4 wd drive to get it replaced.
