Engine,trans. swap?
I have a 56 F-100 with a 352 FE/ 3 spd. MT. I picked up a 351C 2v/ FMX cheap. Wanted an auto. as I live in So. Cal.- frwys. are hell with a stick! Should I stay with the 352 and get a C6?

Question: how is the engine mounted in the chassis. Was it installed using an FE/FT bellhousing with 'ears' that mount to the frame of the truck?
If so, I would recommend getting a FE/FT automatic transmission bellhousing and installing the FMX iron three speed automatic transmission.

I run a 351C (300 hp) with an FMX tranny and really love it. The tranny is very strong and when I had it rebuilt, the guy said that they are also pretty reliable. The C6 is stronger, but might be more than you'll ever need with either motor.
If you're building a cruiser, the deciding factor may well be the tranny mounting that PC talked about.
