Just wonder how long some of the 99 and newer V10's can go. I only have 61,000mi on mine but the highest I've seen is 159,600mi without any mojor problems.
Just got a 2000 E350 super duty with 531,000 miles on it. I got it from a shuttle service in Monterey. It has the original motor, never been rebuilt. It seems to run like a champ. Im going to use it to pull my 7,000 boat over the hill to Santa Cruz!!
My father-in-law drives a bus that his church bought. It is a '99 and has 221,000 + on it. The people that sold it to them say they regularly get 400K out of the V-10 Ford buses.
My 03 F250 4x4 has 86,500 + miles on it. So far the only problems was the alternator went out at 84,000 and the a/c compressor was starting to get noisy so they replaced it too. Use MC 5w-20 oil and MC filters so far no oil consumption. Last change went 6,500 miles and wasn't down a full quart.
I am the "money" "silent" partner in a home lawn business as well as owner of my current V10 powered SuperDuty in signature.
As the money partner I insisted on V10 trucks for the company. We have a small 8 truck "fleet". I also insist on dealer service ever 90 days reguardless of milage. We average 4800 miles per service. Most of our "fleet" is 01 and 02 4 door LB V10 3.73 LS 4x4s and we have 74K or higher on every truck with only three significant warrenty issues so far (one flutter, and two front end ball joints). Average MPG is right at 11mpg.
This was no bright stroke of genius on my part. During the creation of the business plan, to get the bucks from the bank, I did a face to face survey with 20 local construction and small business owners that had more than 5 company trucks. 17 of the 20 use Ford trucks for construction, delivery, farm hauling, etc.
Our family SuperDuty will never see high milage so I personally don't qualify to post under this thread about the 01 or 05's high milage.
But I think our company experiance is relevant. You gotta understand that we hire teenagers and Mexicans for the labor. They are very hard on the trucks. In fact for our stricktly "in town" schedules we are replacing the 4x4s with 06 4x2s next year just because the "employees" love to sneak off and 'wheel the damn company rigs!

The small size ans very low % profit margin require us to maximize everything and curtail any luxury or nice to have convenience items.
All of us "partners" are retired Army NCOs and it is real easy for us to modify employee mis behavior with a strong *** chewing publically followed by public fireing for second offense. The net effect is the remainind employees are motivated to do right.
When we got the "fleet" having 4X4 seemed natural considering our business but in most in town routes is totally wasted with several of our trucks never have used or needed the capability.
In fact the 3.73:1 LS rear with the SteelTech AT Firestones behave very well on wet grass and light mud. Another note is with over 70K on all the trucks the Stock tires still have enough life in them for 10-15K more before we re-tire the fleet. I was mildly OK with the Firestons on my personal truck and business wise exstatic with their wear on the "fleet". In fact in hind sight I guess I screwed up not running around here to all the trie stores and getting all the "take offs" from SuperDuty owners "upgrading".
Along the same lines because this thread is about Ford SuperDuty age/high milage: I am super impressed with air Filter life and MotorCraft battery life. Knock on wood but we have not had to replace a battery yet! And as a maintenance freak I randomly inspect our trucks before and after the dealer maintenance. This is really my way of letting the dealers tech that I keep up with our trucks and will not blindly accept parts changing just to get the bill higher. Any way the tech and I chat all the time and the Ford factory filter holds up real well and it is obvious when it needs changing. My trucks that spend time on colichi (a Texas gravel) dusty county roads get new filters twice a year and the others once.
One of these days I will post about all the things I don't like about Ford Trucks. But ease of maintenance, longivity, and utility are Fords strong suit and I like them for work trucks.
