I've been having problems with my tranmission again, lately. It was working fine until the other day, after we got the fuel pump some-what working.
The problem I'm having now, is almost the same problem I had earlier, when my slave cylinder was going bad. The gears are sticking... If it's in gear, I cannot put it into gear, or if it is in gear, I cannot pull it out of gear. I doubt it's te slave cylinder again, because we just replaced that like 3 or 4 months ago.
Any ideas as to what else can cause gears to stick? It's a manual, BTW.
Thanks again,
Jeremy
Well, my transmission problems appear to have disappeared. There was a hose that goes in to the transmission, that had fallen out. Fixed that, but the problem stayed. Except that earlier today, I was unable to shift into 4th, so I had to go from 3rd to 5th. Later, the problem disappeared completely. No more problems with gears sticking or being hard to shift in/out.
But if anybody has ideas on why something like this would happen, it'd be great to know in case it happens again.
You need to remove the shifter. It can be removed from inside the cab.You remove the rubber boot then the 4 bolts and pull the shifter off the trans. On the end of the shifter that sticks into the trans there should be a plastic cap that maybe wornout or missing. That is what moves the gears in the trans when you shift. When you reinstall the shifter make sure that the shifter is in the slot in the gear that it came out of. Good luck.
any ideas as to what the part is called? I went to a shop, and they really have no idea what to look for, so I'm gonna call a transmission shop and see what they say.
But if you know what the part is called, that'd be great to know.
Thanks,
Jeremy
