Never had a truck this new and don't know how to work on it. I am use to the 70's. This thing has stuff on it I have never seen before. Anyway my question is this.....89 f250 351 5sp With a/c or H/defrost on driving down the road push in the clutch engine dies . When not using either truck runs fine no problems. I have raised the hood and thrown tools at it but to know avail. Bought Haynes, thats not working either. Haven't tried throwing the book at it but that will be my next action.
Any help will be graciously accepted.

Somewhere in this forum there's a thread about that problem- it's fairly common. There's an EIC (Electronic idle Control) mounted on the driver's side fender (little silver-box thingie with a cable that goes to the throttle-plate thingie). I'm no ace mechanic, but following that thread I found:
Plan A: It costs about $200 to replace this item, so you can remove it, clean it, replace it, wait a couple of weeks.....and then spend $200 to replace it.
Plan B: Remove the black plastic cover over the throttle control and find the idle adjustment screw (yep, still has one). Adjust it until the idle bumps up a few hundred RPM, and that should solve the problem- at least it did with mine.
Plan C: Disconnect the battery for awhile, and let the engine computer "relearn" the engine idle and compensation cycle. Might work.
I'm thinking either an electrical short... Or some vacuum lines got "misconnected". Give the vacuum lines a real good check....damn emissions...that's what all that useless stuff is...
