Labonte is following in the footsteps of 49-year-old Bill Elliott, who scaled back to a part-time schedule this season. He said his decision was inspired in part by Elliott's example. Rusty Wallace also has announced that 2005 will be his final season; other longtime NASCAR mainstays probably aren't too far behind. Car owner Jack Roush said in August that 45-year-old Mark Martin indicated next season will be his last, and the two have called a news conference for Thursday.(Charlotte Observer/AP)
m350 pointed out something I thought no one else would notice...Ricky Rudd. When he went to the 21-car so many people said "he's done..." To most people the Wood Brothers' #21 is just another "field filler". I've been a fan of theirs since about 1968, when Cale Yarbrough was in the seat, and I noticed a MAJOR improvement in their performance since McSwain came aboard. These guys are gonna be up front alot in the future. I love the "retro" paint scheme...reminds me of the old days....
Back to Mark, there's no doubt in my mind that he's got as much determination and drive as any of the youngsters out there. Give Mark a car that he can race and he'll be in a position to win at the end. He's an icon for the sport and something of a model that some other drivers should emulate.
Go git 'em Mark!!!

Going on,,,for sure!
