which one would you keep?

ok,I have to thin down my fleet of vehicles by at least one, maybe more. the trouble I am having is when it comes to my trucks. I have a 1978 f100 with a used 351w H.O motor that I swapped in.Tranny also has been rebuilt with less than 3,000 miles on it. the truck runs great . The bad part is the body. has cancer around the rear wheel wells, and the bed is bowed up by the cab. The whole truck needs a paint job. interior is very rough also. The other truck is a 1987 ford ranger that has the 2.9 v6 and 5 speed manual tranny. runs decent, but rather boring to drive.I use the trucks occasionally to haul stuff, and daily for the drive to work, about a mile and a half each direction. if you had to make this choice, which one would u sell? thanks for your opinions....Ben

I'd keep the 78'. No offense to anyone but anything smaller than a 1/2 ton full sized pickup truck is pretty useless for anything other than communting with tiny loads...IMO.

Depends of what else you have that you're keeping, I suppose. If you've got another full size, dump the 78. If you have a smaller daily driver, why keep the Ranger (IMO). If you'd like to GIVE them away, I suppose, if I had to, I could be persuaded to take them off your hands, but just this once.

Keep the '78. Sounds like you put a lot of mechanical work into it, and it runs good. You can fix the body. If you are lucky, you might find a decent bed at the junk yard.

As much as I like our two Rangers I like the 78`s( and other older Ford trucks) even better.

Put the 351 and tranny into the ranger, and get rid of the V6 and the rust bucket 78

I'd keep the '78. A restored '78 Ford is worth a lot more than a restored Ranger. At least to me.

Since oil just hit $54.00 a barrel I'd keep the Ranger and sell the 78 (or park it some where). When it hits $65 a barrel full size pickups are going to get pretty cheap.

From his initial post, I don't get the impression that either truck is a primary driver, so fuel costs would be less of any issue.
