Making a Phone Call ?

How many people here introduce themselves (say who is calling) when making a phone call ?

One thing that I stopped doing years ago was tell/ask the person to:
"Guess who is calling"

So......who knows & uses phone etiquette ?

I don't...unless it's someone that I know doesn't know my voice over the phone, then I sometimes will. I honestly don't use the phone enuf to care.

Phone etiquette? Why? When the only people that call are tellemarkerters.
Other then that I know the people that call me.
When I call someone that does not know me I will intorduce myself at the begining of the conversation, just the best way to be polite.

Most often I talk to people I really know on the phone so I don't....but when it's someone that doesn't know me I'll identify myself right away.

I figure they'll ask after a few minutes...

I introduce myself when I'm at work.

I always do. It gives them a chance to address me personally. Most folks forget, so I always do it again at the end of the conversation just to make sure. Now then, if you are calling me, you had better know who I am.

I always say who it is...unless they already know....'cause I talk to em all the time.
If someone calls me asking your telling me something and have not inroduced themselves......Its my obligation to cease the call.....rude people arent calling to do you a favor.

It depends on who I am calling. I can either be fully professional, state my name and whatnot, or I'll just be like, "What's up?" or some random phrase like that.

When I'm at work I answer "IT Department" since they've already been thru the receptionist. some companies people dial direct to your desk so I had to answer with "Company name, this is My Name"

At home - I look at caller ID and if it's a ladyfriend I'll admit I answer the phone with like "hey sweetie" or something similar. For anyone else it depends on who's calling.

[oh this is for when I'd call]

Work - I give my name, department name and company name .. "This is my name, IT manager at Company name" ..

Personal - everyone except one person has caller ID so they know it's me.
