Lower the tailgate and push the latch in so that you can get the glass all the way out. Make sure that you have something to support the glass, or just hold on to it.
Clean the glass fully, inside and out, with degreaser or something. Let dry. Then apply wax, regular car wax, all over both sides of the glass. Now you can put the gate back up and wait for the wax to dry.
Buff the wax off, and voila! now your window will slide up and down like a greased pig.
Wax seems like a pretty good idea JBronco. I have used a cleaner that is safe for my tinted windows but doesn't work all that great so I'll try the wax this weekend after the rain lets up.
Sure thing - and be sure to get the window all the way out so you can remove the buildup of crud that is at the bottom. I cleaned mine with Simple Green - not usually a glass cleaner and leaves streaks - but that was not an issue because of the wax treatment.
My window had grease all over it from when I had bad seals and they would squeak, I had to grease the seals. I just replaced the rear window surround gasket and the scrubbers, so I removed the grease.
