I also followed the instructions in manual and could not get it to disable. I also had luck with disable it 2003 towncar but the instructions were different I am going try the Lincoln way with the excursion and see what happens.

I disabled mine with the procedure in the manual  Keep in mind that you have a time limit on part of it. It took me 3 tries before I got it. Otherwise, you could always unplug it under your seat, but I've heard that may change the way your airbag deploys.

Thanks for the reply Fixxer, but I tried using the manual 6 or 7 times and my son (who works in an auto body shop) also tried several times to no avail.

I know about the unplug under the seat too but I don't want anything to risk the airbag (I may not buckle up all the time but I ain't crazy!). I just want to disable the chime so that if my wife drives the Excursion, she won't be fighting with the seat belt!

Maybe someone else will have an idea...I even thought about pulling the fuse to the chime (don't know if that would work or what else would be affected).

Mine worked just like in the manual.....

you could always try the dealer....
tell them the manual procedure didn't fix it.... even try it while in the service bay....

just wait for seat belt chime to start and simply push the red seat belt connector in and it will stop . you must do this at each start up but it will not disable any thing

I had trouble with 2000X, had to shut the door before I started in order for it to disable.

Smile Tried the Lincoln Way

Hi Joyee,
Thanks for the info...I'll give this a try. BTW since my last post about this I got ANOTHER Excursion! Now we have twice as much need to disable this damn bell! LOL!

Joyee,
This worked great! Thanks so much - I now have the seat belt chime disabled on both my Excursions! Your method worked flawlessly!
