Max Speed On These Trucks?

What is it? My speedo stops at 80 and has 2 more white markings thereafter. I've made it all the way over there, but im not sure how fast im going. It'd be like 90 or something.

My 89 F150 used to top out on the speedo at 83...although that's with 33x12.50s, never readjusted, so I figure about 95. That was with the old engine though (it entered its next life as a very heavy paperweight a couple weeks ago on a truck hill), don't know what the new one will do, won't find out either, don't want to risk blowing this one up too.

My 88 150 5.0 would do 112 on radar ( dont ask) with headers and duals. My 95 350 will do about 90-95.

My very tired F350 crewcab still hits 85. Just takes a while to get there. Goes up to 70 no problem, after that she groans a bit.

Not for long though, new stroker on the way!

I got a 93 f150 with a 300 I-6 in it. Great motor. Super torquey. Can beat a mustang off the line at the strip. My top speed is electronically limited to 103 - 105 i think, (efi btw) which is retarded. 4th Gear will take me all the way to the peg, and 5 to 12 after is the governor so to called, i got at least 10 - 20 MPH more. GRRR

On my old '90 F-150 the speedometer needle quits moving when it is pointed straight down. It still will pick up speed after that. Not sure how fast it will run, but i'm guessing in the 100+ mph range.

I have had my 1982, 300 l6 to 110 and still had peddle! Not much on the roar could catch or pass at that speed.

I got clocked by a man in blue!

If you havent done anything to it it will shut off betweem 95 and 102. If you just dont change gears it will shut off @5500 RPM's. I did the MAS conversion and it goes to 6250 RPM's.

how fast you fellas think a 1994 5.8L F150 SC, LB would get goin? I've hit the 90 mark, but the little peg stops it. I haven't played with the governer, and never tried to top it out, but one time on the highway I lost track of the pedal and looked down. Glad I did, cop 2 miles down the road in lotawana. I got lucky, but that dude gets away from me. I'm curious when Murphy, (my truck) would top out. It feels like it's got a lot more pedal when I'm cruisin. I've got a few mods, not enough to make a difference. new exhaust.

oh, I forgot, it's an E4OD

Talking

Truck i used to have, white '90 F250 2wd, long bed reg cab, 351W EFI & 5 spd ZF, 3.55 gears, dual exhaust. 190K hard miles on it at time. I had the needle straight down once, and almost there another time, and just about to that point a few times. In other words, I estimate the fastest I had it was about 100-110? Hard to tell, speedo was not marked past 85 i think? Anyway it still had room to go there, just couldn't find a good road/clear spot long enough. called that truck white lighting. good ol' truck wish i had it back. (it had newer paint, bedliner and chrome AR rims (wagon wheel spoke type i guess it's called) and light covers front and back. Dual glasspacks with chrome tips coming out the sides at angles in front of rear tire on each side. man it was a sharp attention getting truck)

Current truck, '89 F350, 2wd dually, reg cab 12' flatbed, 460 EFI & 3 spd C6 a/t, 3.55 gears, dual exhaust. Never have tried to peg it. I've had it 80 a few times and 85 once or twice but never pegged it. It's pretty fast compared to other similar trucks and considering all it's weight and mass.

The white F250 though, i never lost a race in it with other trucks and even a couple cars Git 'er Done!!!

Twilight Child- Really? Wow... I know 300 I-6's have great reputations for torque and looonngg life, but no one has ever called them fast before that i know of. Buddy has one in a '91? F250 4x4 with 3.55 gears and at the time had a 5 spd, he recently swapped in a C6 a/t. But he said with the 5 spd it took him 1 1/2 or 2 miles to get to 75 mph i think thats what he said. pretty lousy... i smoked him a few times with the white truck off the line. Recently lined up the dually F350 against him with his C6 in it, totally smoked him by a LONNGG shot... C6 is a tough tranny but the gear ranges are awkward IMO because IF it downshifts, it will scream the motor. I don't care for the ranges in a E4OD a/t either. I did like the 5 spd ZF though, wish i had that in my F350 sometimes. Excuse my ramblings

I'm beginning to think my motor isn't factory.... heck I don't even have a pcv valve to do that mod. My mechanic couldn't find it either but insists that it has to be there somewhere...LOL. Anyways, I easily do 100+ and beat many cars and most trucks (never did race my friends new Hemi Ram)

Is there an engine code stamped on the block or something that might tell me what I have if its not the factory 5.0 ?

It says EFI 5.0 or something like that.

Anyways, 1 1/2 -2 mile to get to 75mph??? damn...
Doesnt the governor keep your engine from blowing up??
