Bad battery or probably wrong battery. Remove the battery and take it to someone that specializes in batteries and that can check it under load. Be sure that it has WAY MORE cold cranking amps than you need. Check it again when it is hot. As I recall 1000 CCW's is not to much for that motor.
Use very big cables. Check and clean all connections.
GROUND the starter directly to the FRAME. This completes the battery connection.
Be sure that you have a very good starter. Some shops sell lifetime starters and actually stand behind them. GET ONE.
10 degrees initial timing is not too much for these motors. The original design timing chain retards them anyway.
Hot start problems as long as the timing is close and you know which way to turn the distributor, are usually always caused by inadequate starter power.

Hi, harem Scarem--
If you read the original post, you see that the issue only occurred when the engine is HOT--that means it's ignition-timing related, NOT a problem with the battery or charging system, and that fact was determined nearly a month ago.
Hi. lorenr--
As I stated above to harem Scarem--this is NOT an issue that has to do with battery or charging system. Ignition timing is the problem with this particular situation.
One other thing--you stated,
The timing chain controls the CAM timing, not the IGNITION timing, and They are COMPLETELY separate and different.

Hello Stonecoldtx
I understand your problem and mine sounded similar to yours to were it would start fine cold but if I ran to the store or what ever and the engine was up too temp when I would go to start it, It would have hard time cranking over if at all. The starter would just hum and when I would check it would be very hot and I would smell something burning. When the truck cooled it would start fine.
You may have multiple problems. I've seen it and done it trying to fix one problem create another.
But from what I remember from your first thread that was the problem.
