generator question

Drew, I would definitly spring for the transfer switch if your planning on hooking up a generator to your house.

As you and 99PSD have both said "I'm no electrician", but yet some people have recommended a cord with two male ends??? Wow, think about this guys, its a disaster waiting to happen!! Everyone on here should really try to steer clear of recommending illegal and potentially fatal recommeds.

All of the licensed electricians I know would NOT ever do this for themselves because of the potential for disaster, let alone recommend a cordset with both ends having male plugs...not only can you electrcute yourself pretty easily, you can also feed into the entire neighborhood system, as has been mentioned. Doing things like this is why they have codes. Play it safe, and do it the right way with a transfer switch.
