Within the last 3 weeks my early 99 PSD 6 sp. will start and run fine but blows a ton of white smoke. It will run till it gets to normal temperature than will just quit. slowly but it is like the cylendrs quit firing one at a time till it quits. I have to wait for it to cool to start again. Any Ideas?
Sounds like you may have a couple of problems....the white smoke is unburnt fuel so you could have a glow plug issue, gpr not working, or bad gp's. The engine quitting sounds like the CPS has or is fixing to go south on ya. Pick a new one up at an International dealer for a lot less than Ford gets for them. Also check your valve cover wiring harness and the connectors on top of the valve cover make sure nothing is loose or burnt.

If it continues to blow a lot of smoke even when it's warmed up right before it conks out on you I think you have failed fuel injector o-rings.
Mike, I am interested in knowing the cause of your problem. My truck is smoking and missing. Miss feels like one cylinder. Smoke is very intense and smells like unburnt diesel. I purchased re-built injectors and after about 2 hours of driving time the problem started. I also hear a popping sound from my exhaust somewhat rythmic.
