fuel pump question

Long story short, I bought a 79 F-100 this past Spring and the seller filled the back with a mish-mash of leftover parts including several fuel pumps. He told me at the time that he wasn't sure if any of them were any good or not. I'm just wondering if there is any way to tell if a fuel pump is good without installing it on an engine?

Learning as I go, Thanks all,

Robert

I have a favorite method for testing used fuel pumps- I throw them in the garbage can, and if they manage to get back out on their own, they must be good. Pumps are so cheap, there really isn't too much point in keeping an unknown used one around.

I laughed out loud when I read your reply and showed my wife whose response was "Yes, Yes, get rid of some of that stuff". OK, so perhaps I have a problem with throwing out things that I "might" need someday regardless of cost.

Thanks for starting my day off with a laugh. Take care.
