Crazy Idea #457

Ok.... I know theres gonna be alot of flak on this one..... but... the long wide 67 I got a few months ago is knockin like ...well.... a diesel on start up... only fer a few seconds... like 2 or 3...... th mains are gone... it still runs good.... but the little 240 is tired... not only that.... at 70 or 80 mph the engine sounds like its gonna come out from under the hood.... feels like the flywheel is outa balance.... or sumthin..... clutch chatter real bad on launch..... any way my question is can a early model turbo Cummins with the OD standard tranny be put in the truck.... seen a 85 f350 with one... so why not..... just wonderin if any of yall have ever done it before.... part #S.... sequence......ect....thanks for any help....

You didn't say what your truck was - if it is a 3/4 ton you can get stiffer suspension parts but if it is a 1/2 ton I would worry that the frame and suspension will not carry the extra weight.

I don't know why you would want a diesel, they seem to be a hugh extra expense that makes your truck front heavy - just watch one on a muddy road or out in a field. If I had to have a diesel, I would want it in a heavy 4X4.
