what all could be wrong?

I have an 87 BII with electric locks, and the only lock that doesn't work is the passenger side, what exactly is inside the door that controls the lock, some sort of actuator?

the actuator should be mounted on the very bottom of the door on the side closest to the back. it should have a metal pole running up to your lock. my actuator went bad, and since i work at circuit city, i just took it in and i installed an alpine actuator, which doesn't even require the removal of the old actuator. it just mounts about halfway up the door and helps out the factory actuator. take it in and see if they will take a look at it for you, or just go in and do it yourself. it mounts a little cockeyed because of the shape of the door on the inside, but it still works. good luck
