Well, I installed my FlowTech headers last weekend. Truck is a 89 F150 5.8 4wd. Manifolds came off EZ!! In fact, most of the bolts came loose with a regular wrench. Only had to break out the air rachet for the flange bolts. Passenger side was kind of a PITA but nothing too big. EGR pipe fits perfect into the new headers. BIG THANKS to 91fastfox for his input. Taking the fender wells off was the only way to go! Only one probelm. I could not get the driver side header flange to seal the crossover pipe. Constant exhaust leak when started up. I finally took it to Muffler King were after 3 attempts, they found the FlowTech flange was out of round!! Called Summit, had to buy another set of headers for which I will be fully refunded when I return the old set (only taking off the driver side). Hopefully it goes smooth and seals!! With the 3" Flowmaster exhaust already installed, there is noticable improvement especially midrange. The whole job to me and my friend about 5 1/2 hours. Recommend this upgrade to anyone (2 people is a must), but not sure about recommending FlowTech headers (which are made by Hooker). I called their quality contraol dept to see if they will refund me the $50 I spent at the muffler shop. We'll see.

That sounds sweet man. I've got shorty headers that I bought off ebay (hedman) that are on their way. The guy is also sending me a camshaft, ford racing roller lifters, and comp cams hardened push rods for FREE. Pretty good score there.
Are your headers shorties? Do you have 3" true duals? Cause if so that'd be overkill man. Anyways I'm sure it sounds good and if you manage to get a sound clip that'd be wicked.
I had problems with the flowtech shorty headers as well. had to weld a couple of beads and grind them flat. only after trying to tighten them a couple of times.
i guess i shouldnt have taken that for granted. its true you get what you pay for in headers.
They are shorties, unequal length, cost about $220 for everything. I bought premium MR Gasket and Stage 8 headers bolts (A MUST!). Here is another update:
I had obtained a phone number to Holley (they own Hooker which makes FlowTech) and explained my issue to service rep who transferred me to "Kip" in quallity control dept. I left him a message saying I was dissapointed with the issue I had on the left header being out of round and that I had to spend $50 at a muffler shop and another $20 for new gaskets to install the new headers. I reordered headers thru Summit (which is reimbursing me the full refund once I sent back the defective header). Well, Kip called me back yesterday and was very apologetic about the whole situation. He offered me a $70 credit towards any Holley, Hooker, Lunati, NOS and other brands they own. He said not to worry if I went over $70 a bit as he would take care of it. Now that is good customer service!! Thanks Kip (I told him I was posting this here), a little help goes a long way.

BTW, the exhaust is a Flowmaster 3" Force II (sounds very mild, a bit over stock except under throttle has a nice rumble) single cat back. I would not do a dual 3" on a small block.
New Member here, I just got a set of Full-lenght Dynomax headers for my 92' f150 302, by the way it is a 2 wheel drive. I plan on doing the entire exhaust. I am going to do the headers myself, I just wanted to know how difficult they were to put on. I just replaced my manifold gaskets about 2 months ago and they were pretty easy to do. Any help is greatly Appreciated.
Glad to hear you like your headers , on the locking header bolts, I wouldn't put the snap rings and retaining washers on until you've had a few heat cycles on the engine and have retorqued the header bolts a couple of times. When I put my headers on I retightened the bolts everyday for a week and I've never had a header bolt come loose

Did you use the locking bolts or the regular bolts? Cause I have regular bolts and I don't know what to do.
I had the locking bolts but switched over to regular bolts, just do a retighten everyday for a week and you shouldn't have any problems. Also rember that good header gaskets are necessary, I'm using Percy's aluminum headers gaskets with no problems at all.
