Ok after taking a day to look at my engine, I found a crack in one exhaust manifold and a missing bolt in the other. I decided to get a set a flowtech headers, coming in Tuesday! I am kind of dead set on side pipes(don't ask why I just love the look) What have you all done as far as true duals off of headers? I like the sound of broken in glasspacks and I really dig the price! I don't know if I should put cats on it and be good for emissions or say screw it and cross my fingers. Just seeing wht you guys think thanks ahead of time!
Get rid of your cats the grand daddy efi system will be fine without it plus your just removing a wear item that will need to be replaced in the future at some point. I would either run 2.5 true duals straight out the back personally but side pipes are good too. Glass pack for poppy sound and flow master for deeper rumble.
The exhaust subject comes up almost every single day. You are "dead set" on side pipes (no clue why anyone would do that..) so have at it.
If you take a few minutes to look through some recent posts on the same subject you will find most will suggest a single exhaust. Much cheaper and a proven winner.
i have a foxbody mustang that is straight-piped it sounds good and i havent been stopped for them. the only thing is if you do straight pipe it with no cats dont take it to a car shop they cant let it leave with out it. so if you make any exhaust changes that arent what is factory be careful taking it to a car shop.

Haha I don't know why I like them so much, first truck I ever looked into buying had and I loved them.
And as far as using the search engine, I hate it with a passion! I cant ever seem to find anything with it! I have already ordered the headers, duals seem a lot easier from here.

havent got it. i bought the car not knowing it was straight piped but i got underneather with a (creeper) and two jacks and saw it. but i do all my own work on the car so no one knows but they can hear that it is.
Well unfortunately I live in PA and have annual inspection, I work for a shop but still need visual.
I would just put cats on them then dont risk it one you get a ticket and then you have to cut the exhaust and weld in cats so its a bigger waste of time and money when you can do it now instead of later.

Probably should but I just don't like the way a catted motor sounds. maybe if I can find a couple of gutted bodys ill put them on for visual and keep it under 5,000 miles a year.
Well I talked to one of the older mechanics and was told as long as I keep it under 5000 miles a year, I don't even need visual. its only 3 miles to work five days a week so should be good there.
