Electric Impact Wrenches.

Are they any good? Does anyone here use them?

I'm talking about the bigger units, plug into 110 outlet, not the battery powered ones.

I have one, made by a famous Japanese company, whose name totally eludes me... It is very useful, strong and reliable. I use it to change wheels, loosen hitches, and anything else I can't be bothered to get the compressor out to do.

i used to have a jepson impact wrench, before it melted in a garage fire. it worked good, was louder than air impact wrench because it had hammers. it had around 250 ft lbs of torque.

That's what I figure. It'll be useful for rotating tires and breaking big bolts loose. I'm not getting any younger, and I get tired of pounding on stuck fasteners. With 3 older vehicles to wrench on, it would be nice to have an impact to speed some things up.

I asked this question once and the DeWalt impact wrench seemed to get good recommendations.

I also have an older Jepson and it is a very good impact. I bought it used 7 years ago at a garage sale, it is used seldom but works well.

Electric imact wrench

What brand was the imact you used? I don't mind using a cheaper model on occasion, but I don't look forward to it wearing out too quickly.

Electric Impact wrenches

I recently bought three Milwaukee impact wrenches in a local Lowes store on the clearance rack.
Two were the 18V cordless(240 Ft-Lbs) and the third was a 110v(300Ft-Lbs).
The 110 volt has been used a little in the garage to remove lug bolts and etc.
Original price makes them pricey but you might find one on an auction.
If I needed one I would not hesitate to get another Milwaukee.
Either cordless or 110V.

I carry the cordless in the car for roadside assitance type work and parts yard work.
Just have to remember to keep both batteries charged up!
YMMV

I rooted around my packed tool trailer, all ready for the move, and found my impact wrench.. It is a Makita.. I have had it 5 years, bought it from a Pawn shop in Pueblo CO. for $25.

I have one. I needed to take off pinion nuts because the air impact wrench I had wasn't strong enough. The electric one could take off just about anything. The only drawback was that it was heavy and bulky.
