hard to say. its possible that you may have lost some oil pressure around that rpm and got some piston slap? maybe smacked a valve? hard to say. did the knock go away after bringin it back down in rpms?

Yeah it did. Actually I did a test today and revved the engine to 5000 rpms with the clutch in, with the clutch out and in neutral, and then in first gear and second gear and had no knock. I don't know why, but it only happens at that rpm on that road b/c when I went down that road again (the road to work ) I had the same problem. I'm gonna change my oil this weekend and see what comes out. I changed it two months ago ( 1000 miles.) I'm gonna put some 10-40 in it and maybe a littel type F trans fluid to clean the engine a bit better.

Brand... Supertech. I haven't had the problem since though.

reason i asked is its not good to switch between synthetics and regular oil. need to stick to one type.

if you want better pistons, you can swap those out for some 91 and under 5.0 ho pistons, they ar trw forged pistons.

I only run regular good ol' black gold. Anyhow, what year did Ford start makin' their pistons in the 302 HO motors forged.

86 or 7 but i am sure on 87-91. they are trw's. i have some extra std.'s from a 91 but they got about 200,000 miles on them and scored a bit.
