burning oil

i have a rebuilt 400 that is burning oil is that normal and when i rev it to show off a poff of blue smoke comes out

any info would be good because it is really scaring me

Did you replace the valve guides when you had it rebuilt?

it stoped burning oil i talked to a mechanic and he said it would burn a little oil for the first couple km i have 2000 km and it does not burn oil

Then maby it's a carb problem then. I'd look the srark plugs over closely.
