Hey guys thatnks for your help the first time. I just bought a Mazda B3000 and i know i shoulda checked it out better but my parents checked it out first and they said its fine. The major problem is the windshield wipers. It wont work when i put it on any of the intermittent positions then when it gets to the low position its like its on the fastest intermittent position and only the hi works right. The other problems are small stuff like the tailgate not closing unless you slam it, the light not coming on when you open the door and my key not opening my passenger door. Any advise or help would be much appreciated. I got this truck for only $7400 from a reputable dealer. Thanks alot
The wiper switch on the steering column is bad, common problem and can be replaced. The tailgate might need new latches, try pulling the handle when you close it, and release the handle after it's closed. The door switches are kind of common to have problems too, the switch may be stuck, it's in the door latch. Spray some WD-40 inside the doorlatch and see if it helps. If not, the previous owner may have bypassed the switch instead of fixing the problem. Do a search about the wipers and you should come up with the fix. Good luck and congrats on the truck. These are little things to fix and I'm sure you'll be happy with it in the long run
ohh yea and its the kind of switch you turn is it the whole handle i have to change or jus the part that turns because the turn signal and washers work?
The multifunction switch ("MFS" or "stalk") is a single unit that is responsible for activating the windshield wiper functions as well as the turn signals. These switches are very similar on most Fords and suffer from the same maladies.
Otherwise, grab one from a junkyard or go aftermarket. Don't get it from the dealer ($$).
As for the light not coming on with the door, also check the fuse and also make sure that the manual light switch up on the light fixture is set to "door" and that the bulb is not burned out or removed.
Regarding the key not working in the passenger door lock, get a good penetrating DRY lube and spray it in the cylinder and on the key and work it in. PB Blaster's TDL teflon dry lube works great for that kind of thing.
