I have a 2004 rcab FX4 5.4 3v. I have noticed that the 6.5 flair side bed
seems to vibrate at times even on smooth surface has anyone else had this problem.
I concur ... they all do it. Take a look at the last post on Vibration: mystery solved. I just bought a Screw XLT 5.4 and was running around like a mad scientist on steriods over the last few days trying to get to the bottom of this dilemma. I'm satisfied with the results I got ... and I am damn meticulous (my wife uses the term obsessive.. but hey, to each his/her own) on stuff like this.
They all vibrate......... unless your truck is abnormal. Look through your driver side mirror at your bed the next time you are going over some small bumps in the road.
I did and my truck does not vibrate. Believe me when I read about the post about vibration, I checked at different speeds and over bumps. I had other people in the driver seat check it out and they think I am nuts. They kept on saying no it does not vibrate (over and over), no it does not shimmy (over and over), no to me "get a life" (over and over). If it vibrates it is invisible and I can not feel it. In conclusion, and to my friends, it does not vibrate. Therefore I am majority of 2004 truck owners that do not see this problem.
I'm starting to think all these problems are all hype created by people who've read threads from people who have REAL issues. It's starting to get annoying. I think after reading these forums they start to pay attention to the truck as if they were human seismographs. I'm not saying the issue doesn't excist, I'm just saying a lot of these problems people think they're having is all in their heads. Oh yeah, my truck doesn't vibrate.
I do not think it will be a recall on all F150. Hopefully, FORD helps the people that have legitimate problem.
I just put my 2 cents in, because I do not want people think that every 2004 F150 has the problem (like an epidemic). Personally, I hope I am not the only F150 out there that DOES NOT have shimmy, vibration, A.C problems, door dents etc. If so my truck is worth alot of money....
Well I've only got 300 miles now on my 4x4 Lariat, but I have not noticed a vibration either, and I'm really uptight about those sort of things. I do have an extremely annoying rattle or clicking near the steering column, but no other issues so far.

OF COURSE IT'S ALL IN OUR HEADS, THATS WHY FORD HAS REPLACED MY DRIVESHAFT, ALL FOUR WHEELS, ADDED VIBRATION DAMPENER TO FRAME, ROAD FORCE BALANCED TIRES AND IT STILL VIBRATES AT 45 MPH. ALL OF US THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM ARE JUST CRAZY !!!!!!!!

Please read my post carefully...

Rebell: I do not think that is what he is trying to say.
I got caught up with this issue and focused my energy on trying to see if I had this problem. Which I do not have a vibration issue.
Sorry to see that you have this issue, but I am letting people know that vibration is not an issue to most of us. Hopefully, this will let you know that your problem is NOT a problem with the majority of the 04 F150s.
I think people are getting issues confused here. My truck does not have any vibration issues driving down the road but I am referring to the dampening and the way the truck reacts to bumps. It is much different than my F350 i.e. When traveling over sharp bumps at speed the f150 feels completely different in that it is much smoother but the truck kind of jostles rather than one push. I think the super rigid frame combined with insufficient dampening is the culprit. I think the truck is sweet and this really doesn't bother me but I have noticed what these other members are referring to.
