15 year limit
Hey everyone,
Anybody heard the rumor about the EPA implementing a 15 year-old car rule? I'm not STARTING this rumor, I was just wondering if anyone heard it besides me. I don't really believe it but I heard they were going to implement a law that you couldn't own a car older than 15 years and they hope to have it in place by 2004. I don't know the legal ramifications of this, but I do read the SEMA news and the paid-off politicians are always trying something underhanded like this.Just wondering.....
there was a thread about that a while ago here. i really don't hope that it comes to canada. but im gonna save a bunch of old fords. a few people i know have old fords 73-79 sitting around.
I don't think this could ever be possible. It would more than likely cause chaos in the car hobby world. If they want to try an do this than they can replace our 82 bronco with a Brand new truck at THEIR expense. Your right, they can pry the steering wheel from my cold dead hands, all four of them. Anyways it sounds like communism to me.

That is exactly how I felt about it. I don't really see how they could do it without a MASSIVE outcry. I CAN, however, visualize some new "polluter" tax added onto our tag renewal. Always follow the money.....
I am sure there are a lot of folks out there would would just love to ban all older cars. We must beware. We already have many government-mandated automobile features that eliminate consumer choice. We also have government-mandated toilet restrictions and in Jan 04 only government-mandated washing machines can be sold new. I am waiting for the day they try telling you you can't have a big truck unless you can show a need for it. I once had an environmentalist-type chide me for owning an F150 when a Ranger would suffice for my commuting. She said that while riding with me, three in the front of my standard cab F150. I wonder if she would have volunteered to ride in the bed, had I actually been wise in her opinion and bought a Ranger.
