Doesnt a locker ....

Kinda sorta. So long as you keep moving a locker will take you amazing places, but once you come to a stop having those two extra driving wheels of a 4x4 really helps, especially if you're trying to go over a log or somrthing of teh sort. If it chucks teh front wheel inplace and buries BOTH of teh rear wheels, you're screwed.
I know from experience, i wanted to see how far i could get in 2x with a locker. If i was moving I was golden.

Most newer 2wd trucks have IFS....so your only choice is to put the locker in the rear. When you put a locker into an axle, you remove the spider gears (the differentiating gears) and when one wheel looses traction the locker forces equal amounts of power to both wheels.
So, no...it doesnt turn a 2wd into a 4wd.

you add a locker and you multiply the traction several times! you would be amzed.

EDIT : Kinda funny how the "Eaton" is clickable and it has nothing to do with the wheels or traction control.

I would say that a 2x4 with a locker would be pretty impressive. My friend with the detroit-locked bronco hardly ever shifts in to 4wd, while the rest of us are in. Of course, I am not talking about the hardest of trails, just enough to make a normal 4x4 shift into 4wd. The funny thing about the rubicon is that they aren't that indestrucible. There is a guy here who just snapped an axle on a 2 week old rubicon because of the locker. Nothing is perfect. And being stupid doesn't help your cause ...
