No. No it does not. A locker turns a 1x4 into a 2x4. If you want a 4x4 get a a four wheel drive truck and put a locker in front and rear. Anything else is, at best, a 2x4.

to make a jeep into a rubicon, its all appearance stuff isnt it? what do they add to make it any more offroadworthy?

It has D44 diffs front and rear and air lockers. But they screwed the pooch with weak outers and a Dodgie engine.

it also gets 4:1 gears in the tcase which makes it all bu worthless in the mud. great for the rocks though. . .

What are the benefits of a selectable locker versus the automatic type for rear axle
purposes?

Can the same traction be had from both?

yes.

an automatic locker locks solid [acts like a spool] when one tire slips. A selectable locker will be unlocked (ie an open differental) until you lock it.

It has a low range transfer case as well as a fixed yoke kit on the rear.

BTW....I wouldnt say that Rubi's are all bad:

Not too much in terms of durability issues. Lots of drivabliliy issues. Do a search on this forum and you'll find there are plenty of threads that go into detail about Detrois lockers and how they behave (or misbehave) on the street. I just posted a little info to the "Lockers/trailer" thread on this page.

Jeremy, that Jeep is right where it belongs . . . on a trailer!

Really, Ivan, you shouldn't dog Jeremy about the trailer. He's just being responsible and prepared. How else does he plan on getting that heep home after it falls apart on the trail? I commend you on your forethought Jeremy.
