You sure received a lot of good input in 14 hours- Now here is my 25 years of storing vehicles/ live & learn strategy. A fresh oil change, full tank of fuel with stabilizer and disconnect the battery. I wash it well before putting it away.
Since I live in a relatively mild climate (comparatively), I start and drive the vehicle every 45-60 days allowing the engine & exhaust to reach & maintain full operating temperature. Usually that is about 30 minutes from the start to park. Also, I do the drive on warm days (40-50 degrees F) and we do not have the salted roads. This strategy may not work as well in a bitter cold/heavy salt location. However, this strategy helps avoid oil leaks that typically appear after long-term storage without running the engine. My $.02 worth.
Thanks for all the info. I got a storage unit today. $60/month. I figure that's about how much it takes to run the car per month (insurance, fuel, etc.), so it isn't too bad. This way the car will be out of the elements and out of the snow plows way when they clean the lot. I figure I'll prep the car this weekend and park it in a week or two.
