Yesterday I got a letter from Ford regaurding my '02 explorer that I haven't had in 2 years. They are doing a recall on the glass part of the lift gate. They say it is unsafe to open the glass to due the mounts. The letter says that I will recieve another letter in Nov regaurding this, and in the mean time not to open the glass hatch. They even put a little drawing in to show what not to open. Anyone else heard of this?

I got mine, just saying the hydraulic struts that hold the window up maybe weak, don't want the glass to fall on your head

Girlfriend got her's for her 03 on monday

 

Got mine for the '03 in yesterday's mail 10/14/04. Like the earlier posts stated, parts to be available in late November and notices for scheduling are to be forthcoming.

 

Too bad they won't replace the latch too. I've got a late model 02'.

Because the hinges sag now, the plastic covering at the latch hook has torn from being alignmented with the latch loop on the glass. The latch still works, but the cover was designed to eliminate any rattling noise.
