ok... I did the Hellwig and Rancho 9000 adjustables. I put on new REVO's and added some interior goodies like custom mats all around etc, etc... I am saving up for Ladyot's radius rods cuzz I still feel I have to "manage" the steering more than I should...
In the mean time.. I thought I would start a new controversy...
what is it with those tiny, stock windshield wipers?? I swear they are 2 inches too small! Surely there must be a maor upgrade to the wipers blades I need to make next
Can anyone confirm or deny the key fob programming instructions in the manual for 2000 Excursion are correct? I have followed them (turn key from position 3 to position 4 eight times with the eighth turn ending in position 4) MANY MANY times with no luck. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem and found the correct procedure. Thanx.
As for the wipers, I found that 24" wipers instead of the stock 20" fit perfect. They don't flutter or any bad manners at highway speeds either. The best I can figure is that they probably save a couple bucks per truck, Excursions and Super Duties, and with the volume of trucks produced, this can add up.
smassie I have done it a few times and it works, Not sure on the need to be unlocked because I think the were when I tried???? Make sure the batteries are good in the fob as well, I know stupid but you know how it is. Also your fob might just be bad. I used the fob off of my F250 on my EX and it works.
daimon, it did work, just the books says? It says the doors should lock and unlock to let you know it's in the teach mode. My truck door locks do not lock and unlock to let me know it's in the teach mode. So, assuming it was in teaching mode, I tried programing two different key fobs, one I use everyday and the other one with a replaced battery, with no luck. Thanks.
I'll ad my .02 as well. There is no storage compartment in the back doors, you would think they would have put some type of storage in the back doors like they do in the front. With the rear entertainment system there is no place to store DVD's.
What you show in the previous link I have installed. That shows the left door. The right door is a solid bin vice the net. Comes in handy, but you must leave about 6 inches of space when tossing things in the rear to allow for this attachments.
Those are nice & look like they would work well, but I was meaning something like that for the doors for the back seat. The only storage area in the back seat is the pouch on the back of the front seats. It would have been nice if Ford put some kind of solid bin or mesh bin on the doors for the back seats so I wouldn't have DVD's, Gameboys, etc. floating around the backseat all the time.
I really hate how the liftgate doesn't go high enough - I'm only 6'2" and I hit my head just about everytime I walk under the darn thing. Maybe it's just another money saver for Ford using short shocks...eh?
Limited space for passenger pockets... the back of my front chairs has pockets ...
if you have need for more storage - how about a cardboard box ?

4x4 lifgate has less rise to limit the overall height of the vehicle and limit the complaints of damage when opened and hitting garage doors, etc...
try replacing with 4x2 struts - gives more height...

I switched the struts on my 4X4 with ones for a 4X2 and they do raise the liftgate higher. I just wish I had measured how high the liftgate went with the original struts so I'd know how much height I gained. I'm 6'2 and I don't think I have to duck to get under the liftgate anymore.
