I just had Ford install a new AOD transmission in my 1988 Ford Bronco 5.0L. It drives fine except for a 2-1 hard downshift...I can almost guess when it is going to make the noise and jerk. It happens when I'm in D and am slowing down for a stop sign, stop light or a turn, etc...around 20MPH or less. My old transmission did this and I don't remember it doing it until it started slipping from N to D after my 190k+ miles fluid change when I first bought it. What the hell is going on?
Some information i remember seeing on the AOd in my Lokar TV instructions indicated that harsh downshifts were caused by the TV cable being adjusted too tight. I would take it back to Ford and let them readjust it or at least look at it.

I just adjusted the TV cable...same problem. I also noticed that one of the bolts that holds on the cover for the TC was missing...and my transfer case fill plug is stripped to ****?! What the hell Ford? I was under my truck all day today changing my oil pan gasket by only dropping the oil pan onto the crossmember...talk about a PITA. Got it in successfully though...no more oil leaks! Any other ideas?
I took a 95 F150 in once for torque convertor shudder. They replaced the convertor but when I got it home I found that only about half the pan bolts were tight and 4 or 5 had already fallen out. It also still shuddered so I doubt they changed the convertor like they claimed. I don't deal with anybody else anymore. i do it all myself. Of course all I have is my 71 f100 and wife's 95 Thunderbird. You can still work on these.
No other ideas on the 1-2 down-shift. Sorry The TV being too tight is all I ever heard about. You can try http://forums.tccoa.com/index.php?
There are some really good tranny guys on there

Noticed another problem. I'll put it into OD and it wont go into 4th gear. I can shift from OD to N and back to OD and it will go into 4th gear. This crap is ****ing me off. I didn't pay $$$ for a new broken transmission or an incompetent technician to strip out my transfer case plug. Thanks for the link...I'll check it out.
