Those GMC's weigh about as much as a Ford Focus, drop 1000 lbs in his bed and then run him again. Seriously, the chevy 1500's have quick revving motors and they move, but the rest of the truck is junk.
He could have had different gears than you. He also could have been running a manual box, instead of an auto (or vice versa). Both of these can provide drastically different off the line performance.
thanks guys, I'm feeling better about it, and thinking of ways to make this truck better! I know that my truck is in fact a better truck then any gmc, chevy or dodge etc!

Reason: to add to it
Is there a weight difference between a GMC truck and a Chevy Avalanche?? I can't imagine it being more than a few 100lbs and I had no problem at all walking away from one on a punch from 30 to 80.. My Lariat is bone stock with 3.73's and the truck only had 900 miles on it at the time. I fact it was the first time I let wind out in 2nd gear. Maybe all that crap you have plugged in and bolted one isn't working right..? Either that or truck you ran wasn't stock.
My brother in-law has a GMC 1500 with a 5.3 and it's slug...but I don't remember the gears...well he did have till last week.. Now I heard he bought an Avalanche.
