shuts off when stopping
Hey guys.I just bought this 87 F250 4x4. It's got the 6.9 and it was running fine on the way home on the highway. When I went to pull off the exit and stop it shut off. It started right up agian anf I drove another 5 miles and I went to stop agian and it did it agian. Other than that it runs great and pulls hard. This is my first diesel and i'm loving it. You can't beat the sound either. Any help would be great. Thanks

However I would think you have a sticky governor in the injector pump. Get a new fuel filter, remove and discard the old one, fill the new one with Diesel Kleen or similar and install. Start the engine and let it run for about 30sec and switch it off. Let it sit for a couple of hours then start and drive it. Hopefully that will help.
