96 Ranger 2.3 with 145,000 miles. Engine suddenly started to severly spitter, sputter & break down. Converter was red hot so I assumed it was plugged. Installed new converter and the problem was still there and the new converter was getting hot. Installed new timing belt, plugs, wires, & fuel filter. Still no help. Local mechanic analyzed it as the cam sensor. Installed a new sensor and the problem is still there. Motor starts & idles fine but as soon as a load is put on it, the motor breaks down so bad it is not drivable. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
