Hi,
Just found your site & need major help. My 5 speed mitzu tranny has locked up, i think. Will move between 3rd. & 4th. but does not seem to fully engage. If I put it where neutral should be, & let out the clutch it will take off like it is on 1st. But trying to get in another gear is impossible. No matter where I try to move the shifter it will still take off like it is still in 1st. As I am not that mechanically inclined as far as trannys go any suggestions as to what might be causing this would be greatly appreciated. This is a 4x4. If all else fails could someone tell which other transmissions would fit so when looking through ads I wont just look for 86 B2 trannys.
P.S.-I have an 85 B2 I bought for leeching off of with a perfectly good(unfotunately a mazda tranny)or is there a way to modify or add adapters or anything to make this one fit? Thanks for any & all help people.
It sounds like the hydraulic clutch. It maybe leaking, check for fluid loss. If fluid is down it is a leak and you need to rebuild or replace it. After replacing it, the air needs to be bled out of the system.
Thanks for the clue. Have not noticed any leaking but I just bought this and it may have been so low that it was just a matter of time. Would you know the answer to my P.S.??
Sorry do not have an answer for your PS. Do some searches on this site and also call a local wrecking yard and ask them to check in their Hollander intertchange book. Ask them what transmissions will interchange with yours.:-)
