Question Oil Change Question

I recently purchased a 2000 F-250 7.3L Turbo Diesel and I usually do all my own oil changes. Quick questions: After refilling the engine oil, is there any additional procedure that should be followed to make sure the turbo has sufficient lubrication prior to starting the engine for the first time?? Does draining the engine oil also drain the oil supply to the turbo charger??

Thanks in advance...

I suggest prefilling the oil filter before starting so that the muffler bearings get lubricated quicker, I heard you don't want those to go out.

Nothing special, just fill it and the filter up and start. Use a 5gal capicity drain pan. Poke a hole in the filter before loosening it, so it will drain out. Because it holds a lot of oil.You can get the Motorcraft brand filters at Wally world about $10.

No, there is oil in the upper parts of the motor that will not drain out. Places like the turbo, HPOP, and around the injectors I believe.

If you have any concerns about problems related to the oil change have the oil tested. I only costs $20.00 and is well worth it..

Loosen the filter first, then poke a hole. If you poke the hole first and the filter is over tightened it will crush. Leaving the oil in it help prevent the problem.
