broken shock mount

Smile broken shock mount
My 77 f250 has a broken shock mount that attaches to the axle.I'm told it's a one ton axle.What precautions should I take before I weld it back on.pull the shaft or can I leave it in .Any words of wisdom would be helpful. Thank you

Just weld it back on.

That would probably be a Dana 60 (F250's) not a Dana 70 (F350's)
