I was wondering if anyone has had there bronco painted black and what it cost?? Let me know Also tell me if u sanded it down then had them paint it or they did all the work?
Cant hurt to do all the prep work for them before you bring it over unless they are really picky. Just might save them some time, and you some money. As far as the cost goes, you get what you pay for. FYI, black is the hardest color to get to look awesome, it just really shows up the flaws. Expect to pay extra $$ to get black done right.
Costs will vary from place to place. Depends really on how good you want it to look, and how much you are willing to spend. (The two are inter-related really) If your looking for a base coat/clear that is really flat and like glass, look at $1500-$2000 at least. Just from my experience where im from.
Well after you add the reducer to:
1. The paint you end up with 1.25 gal - Which gives you 4 thick coats
2. The clear you end up with 1.75 gal - Which gives you 7 thin coats
This is not counting the top, door jambs, under the hood, inside tailgate.
Those took 1 quart of basecoat.

I expect to get railed for this, but places like Maaco paint cars for $300. I realize that trucks are bigger, however on a Bronco they don't have to paint the top so it is a wash.
I am sure that the $300 paint job is not anywhere near top of the line. But suppose you double it to $600 and get that paint job from them.
They count on people needing bodywork to make extra dough - but my truck needs no bodywork at all. Just a spray.
My paint still looks pretty good from 1990, but there are scratches from wheeling and the top of the tailgate is hopelessly oxidized; I can buff it out and it will shine for about two weeks, max.
So what would be so bad about a simple respray from Maaco? I have two-tone grey and black, I would get it sprayed solid black and cover the small grey area in the door jambs myself with a quality spray paint. I am not looking to make it a show truck (not yet, anyway!)

Go to a community college and pay $40 per credit hour and learn how to paint.
This way you do your own paintjobs. I guarantee you will paint more than just your Bronco. Your name will spread and you will get your money back by painting buddies, neighbors, etc. stuff...

Stranger.
Amen. I've considered getting a paint booth for home. They can be had for ~3600 from NC. Thats around 14 X 22 including lights and fan and doors.
