If you ask me, by far the hotest topic, or the most talked about topic, is fuel mileage.....alot of folks seem to get upset that their trucks dont get like 20 MPG or more!!! I dont know, but to me unless you got lucky with your truck and are in the so called one percentile...15ish is about what to me seems to be on the average...and this is no computed average, just kinda using my wits about what I have seen in MPG #'s on here. These are huge trucks with huge motors...seems difficult that a truck like this could ever get over 20MPG. Im getting 10-13 and heck, Im happy with it..plenty of power when I need it..and for being so huge...its a pretty quick truck!! Anyway, as I said on one of my other posts...if I wanted fuel mileage, I would have bought one of those Hybrid things!!!!

I think was has 'bothered' some, and seems a bit puzzling, is that an 'alike' truck with a 7.3 'can' get in the 19-20MPG range (or more) out on the open interstates.. 'Some' lucky 6.0 owners have met these numbers.. Best I've seen without the Predator is 17.. Not complaining though We have fleet of 7.3's that were working a job (half way across the state of Nevada 'end to end') and were consistently pulling these fuel/MPG numbers.. Most were running empty/light loads.. AND, the 7.3 is a larger displacement engine, plus the 6.0 was 'sold' as a better performer which was right on IMO, but the promise of higher MPG's for the 'most part' has never materialized.. My 6.0 still gets better mileage than my old Ford small block gasser, and the power difference is phenomenal.. With all the enhancements to the 'new' mill you'd think the MPG increases would be fairly easy to achieve.. Not to mention the 'other' guys numbers.. But,, even with fuel costs as they are, I may have to spend the kids college money to keep me smile'n
Somebody on another thread already said that his buddies are getting 11/16 with the dodges.
What about Duramax diesels?
As of right now I'm happy. I'm getting 15-16 (F-250 CC 4x4) with half the miles being city miles. I was getting 10-11 mpg with my V-10.
Another thing I don't understand is how are some people claiming 10-11 mpg with the 6.0 and the equivalent truck that I have? I still think a lot of people exagerate high mileages with their trucks. Like I've heard 20-22 mpg with the dodges.
Fuel milage is just another number that really can be manipulated...
The way I see it, you really have at least two "MPG" numbers, one which I call on the road, and the other is by the tank.
Whether I use the overhead lie-o-meter as it is referred to, or do the numbers by hand, I can show drastically different MPG numbers based on driving habits. I have seen out on the road numbers consistently in the 19 - 20 range when I fill up, go out on the 4 lane and cruise at 70, up and down the hills in PA. Using the same truck, poking around town, commuting to/from work (1 mile) and the occasional demonstration ride will show 12 - 14, and this was done before the Predator came....
NOW, I haven't been out on the 4 lane to see what the Predator can do for mileage, but I know that the latest round of demonstration rides has brought a lot of smiles, some extra smoke out the tailpipe ( you know that hurts the MPG ), more than one "Oh My", and once again drastically reduced MPGs.
I am making a trip to Atlanta in a few weeks and I will use the Predator "Economy" mode and reallly try to see what kind of mileage I can get out of it on the Interstate. I'm betting that it will be in the 20 range.
There are many factors that influence MPG. Wind, weather, tires, tire pressure, driving habits, geography, etc. I could go on. but I won't. You get the picture.
I agree with Steve it is the single most variable part of this truck we have, my own style of driving causes 3/9MPG difference ...easy…some where on here I did a list and it had something like 20 or thirty items that can and will cause MPG fluctuations…

Tell me about it, I put on my heavy boots, and fuel consumption goes straight out the window
I only check my mileage on highway trips, my average is 18 to 19.5. I dont bother checking when driving around towns to many lights and opportunities to put your foot to the floor, Its fun but I'm way to fuelish with this truck. take care, John
I think different areas of the country may play an effect. I live in Oklahoma and when we went to Colorado I figured my mileage would go down since we would be driving on 2 lane mountain roads. I was incorrect, I had better city and highway mileage in Colorado. Guess my diesel likes the thin air.
While I fueled up a guy with a Duramax was using the other side. He asked me about mileage and only after I said 18-19 empty and 11 when towing 11K he said he gets 20-22 and 16 towing 5K. He must drive downhill and get towed up by a Ford PSD.

You should'a played with him some, and said you were seeing 22-23 out on the highway (A/C on of course) and around 14 or so towing the 11K.. And then seen what numbers he gave you

Hey, how can you agree with Steve... since the name listed is SBV45???
Now we know his real name.... hope he wasn't in the witness protection program hiding out as a Ford forum poster???
It seems to me those of use that have owned the 7.3 and have got good mpgs are the ones, most disappointed with the 6.0 which as someone said ford touted it to be 8% better then the 7.3. those who use there trucks as toy haulers seem to be less concerned then those of us who use theres daily as part of there business. I got 6 mpg better in the 7.3 running it hard then I can get in the 6.0 driving like a little old lady. AND in my case the variables are the same . same truck satup gears ,load, route and fuel all the same thing different is the engine, and everywhere I go it seems to be the number one complaint. It woulnt be so bad if ford would own up to the problem and make a effort to fixthe trucks it is going to hurt in the long run.
