Does anyone know about the differences between the heat/air control panel for the std heater style versus the "Magic Air" unit? My truck has the Magic Air, and all the catalogs I have seen sell new *****, but do not differentiate between the two. Were the *****/cables the same? My panel is also a different style.
Photos in my gallery.
The standard or recirculating heater for 48-50 was straight across and the Magic Aire heater was a triangular pattern. The ***** were the same. The magic Aire had a extra control cable for the heater valve. The 51-52 was straight across for both type heaters, with the magic Aire again having a extra hole for the heater valve control cable. You don't mention what year, so I'm assuming it's for 48-52.
The early 50's Magic Air was nothing like the one I got out of a '60 truck, but does anyone know where to get the cable/wire that connects the controls to the heater and vents? I'd like to hook up the control that opens the hot water valve in the engine compartment.
I'm pretty sure John's F-funhundreds carries the cables for the Magic Air units on the 57-60 trucks, not sure if they have them for the earlier trucks though.
It should be possible to modify an ordinary choke cable or lawnmower throttle cable if you can't find a drect replacement. Cut the casing to length, bend the wire as needed.
