Thumbs up

I can't answer about moving but I can tell you that family time is about as precious as any paycheck. And if you take over the business, the hours won't get any better!

You are a young man with many years to work. With your wife's professional skills, your education, and no debt load to speak of, make the change and move on. The two owners owe you nothing. Talk is cheap when offering you the company. Great ploy to keep you from leaving. The worst I have been burned have been by people that I thought were friends or close associates, Your family is first. They are the ones that are going to be there if things fall apart. Life is a journey to enjoy. You cannot live the same day twice. In our bag of life, we only have so many coupons. No one knows how many coupons are in there bag. However, each day you redeem one. The only things I regret in life are the things that I didn't do or buy. Change is hard and sometimes frightening, but with your present scenario, that sure is frightening. Good luck. I am confident that you will make the right decision.

For the money they want I could start my own company doing something I enjoy. When it comes to the company offer, I just don't have the ambition to do this work anymore. The hours will always be the same or worse and find employees for this trade is getting worse and worse. The labourers all have the same notion about the oilfield, "why do metal when I can work on the rigs for more money and more time off!!"

I'm starting to believe in a quote I read:
"If I don't try something new...tomarrow is going to be the same as today!!"

I'm 41 and due to a car wreck while at work I can not go back to the work that I was doing. The doctor said if the company had a desk job that I might be able to do it. The wreck was no fault of mine and I have been with the company for over 8 years and have helped them grow to what they are today. But the owner is upset with me because I filed a work comp claim since it happen at work in the company truck. And he is not willing to work with me on anything. So now I have to figure out what to do also. Before the wreck he had talked about me being the purchasing agent. My job had we on the road during the week. I didn't get to see my kids grow up. Now they ar 19 and 16. I missed out on the sports, school actitives and just any day to day living. Don't miss out on any of it. You sound like a good roll model for your kids. Don't let them lose site of you either. I guess the question is: more money, unhappy job or less money and love for your family!

i would never consider leaving my homeland, thats a big decision. but you could make half the decision and leave that company. you dont wanna work hard and regret it later. im young and cant say that i have experience in this matter, but ive seen it in my father, my mother, and other people i know.

companies arent worth jack if they dont believe in family. like someone said FAMILY will be there for you in the end, not your employers. employers are generally greedy people that only care about themselves and money, and they arent going to care about whether or not you missed your kids football game or band concert even if it meant the whole world to your kid that you were there.

and as for the workers comp thing, you have to watch it these days. i got fired from a stupid restaurant job because i slipped on grease on the floor and chipped my front tooth on a crock pot, and because it was their fault for running a not-up-to-code restaurant, they needed to pay for it. they had no workers comp, and i threatened law suit. needless to say i didnt stick around long, they ditched me as quick as possible. just take what you need and what you deserve from them and leave them in the dust. theyd do the same to you.
