How many people who live in the country would rather live in the city and vice-versa, and why?
(and a big shout out to all the independent ranchers and farmers who feed us)
I'd like to get out of the city to leave behind the barking dogs, crying children, ice-cream trucks, teenagers, loud bikes, burnouts, sirens, nosey neighbors and small back yards.
i live in las vegas and i would much rather live in the country. i just came back from a fishing trip at Navajo lake in Utah, and i hated the idea of driving back to this bustling city. if i could make a decent living anywhere in the mountains; i'd be gone in a week!
my town is 50,000 people and is way to much. it's mainly commuters that commute to the capitol city. but i'd say 1/3 are native of this town. i am native of this town. i hate t and want to move to a town with less than 10,000 people. i love the country stores and everybody knows every body thing. we used to have that till about 10 years ago then the big guys came in and killed out the small guys except for a few. I love small towns and would rather live in the south like GA in the real country but maybe later on in life.
When I was born here...our house was considered in the boonies. Now we're the populated boonies and it's too much for me. I need at least three acres between myself and the nearest property line. Time to move I guess.
I live in the city and I don't like it. It isn't like Los Angeles but it still sucks. All I know is that owning a house where I am now will let my wife and I have good pickin's of where we want to go and how much land we want around it. Love the country and everything about it.
I hate living in the city. Traffic is probably one of the worst part, and everyone around here has road rage, drives like a nut, and is always in a hurry in just about everything they do.
I want to live in a small town, where people are a little more relaxed, conservative, and friendly. I'd love to own a bit of property, and live a mile or so from the nearest main road. Someday...
I have lived in a town once. I would much prefer not to do that again - I could not get used to the amount of constant noise towns get. I travel a lot, and have found that sleeping is nearly impossible, unless I stop at one of Boonie type intesections, with a small hotel. Staying in inner city hotels is terrible, even the building makes more noise.
i bought a house in the suburbs.. bungalow on 5000sq feet.. was a step up from a 3rd story apartment on a busy street with ambulances, stabbings, bums, dealers 24/7.. but i'm still itching for more space... when i have a little more equity in this place might like to trade up to a hobby farm
My town is growing so fast! It used to be pretty mellow. I'd love to move out into the woods or to a smaller area....but then I become the problem I am moving away from.
I live in a town of about 1400--and that's too much. I want to be able to shoot stray, unwelcome animals with whatever caliber strikes my fancy at the time. For some strange reason, the local constabulary frowns on that.
I live in the country, on 10 acres about a mile from a small town of about 1500 people. The county seat is only 5 miles away, so it's convenient for work and shopping, etc. without having to live in it. I couldn't handle living in big city, the noise, traffic, people, and all that. Largest city anywhere near me is Santa Rosa which is somewhere over 100,000. That's about an hour away, and it's 2 hrs. to SF if I need a dose of culture. (Thankfully, that's not too often!) But even out here, we get some noise from neighbors, kids driving by bumping their stereos, dogs barking all night. I need to move someplace where my driveway is a mile long and you can't see or hear anyone else from your house. I've lived in places like that, and loved it. Ah, home sweet home, where you can scratch where it itches! -TD
