I just recently put the keypad on my truck. Works great, easy to do. My truck locks fine with the keypad, with my key in the ignition or with my turbo timer on and key removed. I just have to have the door closed, otherwise it unlocks immediately. Great feature, just get out, close the door, hit the 7-8 9-0 keys at the same time and its locked up. Makes it easy to set the time to cool down, put the keys someplace, get out, lock up and walk away.
Did you get the one from Ford? I ordered one off of E-bay but it doesn't exactly look "factory" so I may be running to the dealer.
I can tell you that the wireless ones that you get don't look like the ones that you see from the factory. They are a little thicker than the factory from what I have seen.

That is what I noticed. Think I will go poke around the dealer. Guess I can put the one I got back on E-bay.
[QUOTE=1BFT]I have the keyless entry on my 2004 F250 and I cannot lock the truck with the key in the ignition. It just keeps unlocking itself. Is there a way to disable this feature?
I have an 05 with keyless entry and the keypad and I just push down the lock button to leave it running then use the keypad to get back in. If I use the power locks it will unlock itself.
OK so I got the cheap key pad from E-bay. I was not happy with the way it looked so I went down to Ford for one. They guy knew exactly what I needed and they even had them right there under the counter. Well the on he pulled out is the same cheap on I got on E-bay.
So I told him that I would like the factory key pad for the door of an '05 model. He looked it up and it was the same part number as the one he was holding (cheap one). I said that is not it. After some back and forth I took him out to the lot and said " see that is not the same ". He looked some more and said that is all there is. I asked if I wrecked my new truck and the key pad was damaged what would the put back on. He said it was the cheap looking one.
This just doesn't sound right. I want the thin keypad that is on the new trucks. Anyone know where to get this? Could I get it from a junk yard as long as I got the factory card to go with it?
Duksrule, I may be wrong but I think the factory installed keypads that are thinner are hardwired and the thicker adhesive type keypad have a battery etc. I got mine off Ebay and am happy with it though like you said the thinner ones look cleaner.
Well when he looked up the replacement part the factory installed Key Pad it showed the same part number as the on I had.
If the thinner ones are hardwired, is there a way to retrofit it into my truck? That would be nice too because I work on a Navy Base and sometimes the remote controls don't work.
I have a 04 f250 Lariat with the factory keypad. I was disappointed when I got it that I could not lock it and run into the gas station. I finally found in the owners manual that you press the 7-8 and 9-0 keys at the same time and it locks with the motor running.
I have a ARE hard cover on the bed that has the electric lock. I found that when I enter my code to unlock the door and then press the 3-4 key it unlocks the passenger door along with my bed cover.

Tom.
Tom,
Manually lock the drivers door and it will stay locked.
The outside keypad WILL unlock the door if you leave the truck running and manually lock the drivers door. It will unlock it all day long, I use it daily.
