>This person is lying through thier teeth....

>The late model thin wall blocks are not cast with more .250 cylinder material. With a little core shift there is less than that.
Could be, don't need to be. As I have stated before, min. wall thickness should be .125. If you bore a block .060 over that's .030 per wall, so you could start as thin as .155" wall then. Lets take a .125" bore that's .075" per wall gives us a starting point of .200" wall. I would say he is right, in fact early blocks probably didn't have castings more than .250" wall either

>Put a .125 cut on that and your down to paper holding cylinder pressure....
See above answer... besides paper is only about .008-.010" thick

>Overheat isn't an issue, its the amount of cylinder distortion under pressure, and the lack of ring seal that is a huge issue.
BINGO... We have a winner....cylinder distortion and ring seal (to me, but I am lying through my teeth) is the only reason to watch cylinder overbore!!!

>Late model thin-wall stuff shouldn't be pushed more than .030 over, on real LOW performance engines then .060 is probably OK to keep a pump engine idleing.... .125... yea, thats why DART is building $1500.00 blocks.
That's why all the piston manufactures don't make pistons over .030"????
Ask any machinist who has installed sleeves, we decided to check this out after installing many sleeves, many, many of thoses blocks never hit water, so we wondered how much was left, hence the purchase of a sonic tester and just checking different block. I do have a customer we did an engine for him, it was a 327 chevy, but we bored it .125" over and sonic tested that to make sure and he raced that engine.

Well I asked for ideas and I got it, didn't I. My question is, are peoples' opinions, here-say or good hands on experience. I'll even make you a deal, I'll find my 302 roller block, take pics of bore size with a mic and details and then I'll sonic test it and show the size. I'll post the pics then, you could pass them on to who ever then.

Thanks this has been fun. Hope you didn't mind the sarcasism.

Like I said, I have nothing invested in this other than a desire to learn a thing or two. I was gonna delete the "lying through the teeth" comment that the other fella made but I figured if I gave you the link you would see it, so need to censor it.

If you wanna post the pix, go for it or just ask and I will give you the link to the other site and you can take it there, you would also be met with people who have more to offer to the conversation as well.

My question is, are peoples' opinions, here-say or good hands on experience.
No offense but so far all you have offered is hearsay, post the pix then you can better demonstrate what your saying. Right?

Lemme know

I have no problem with what others may say about me, so don't feel bad about not deleting the "lying part". I have had to deal with opinions like this for years. "My neighbor is a mechanic at a Ford garage, and he said..."

>No offense but so far all you have offered is hearsay, post the pix then you can better demonstrate what your saying. Right?
No offense taken, I guess what I ment was "I heard it from Joe" Who heard it from Tom, who heard it from Bill. You get the idea?

I am offering what I did and what I saw and what I measured. And true there is still room for a margin of error, You and others who read this thread can now only offer "heard-say" And who knows the loony on the other end of this keyboard, may have "done" it, but is his interpretation correct, are the measuring instruments calibrated correct.

I will get pics, and hopfully everyone who has been reading this knows I am not pointing fingers directly, and realize it's only my opinion of my interpretation. In fact that's alot of what life's about!!

This has been a learning experience for me also. It never hurts to be challenged on our ideas.

Thanks,

Actually everyone here has only offered hearsay! TMI has nothing to gain so I'm sure he knows what he is talking about as does eveyone else, ever engine is differant, every rebulder is differant, every boring tool is differant, some are better than others.

The fact is wolf 19a's .050 over motor was running with a supercharger and stayed togeather, now the supercharger has been sold and he just has the long block. I say go for it, install it in the truck and enjoy. Talk is cheap, lets get to work and get this in your truck Bud! Than you can reply back and give the out come to this thread.

I never implied he didn't know what he was talking about. He was stating others where using hearsay and he experience. I was simply pointing out that I don't know him or anyone else on this board, so unless he offered valid photos or credibility, everything he stated was hearsay....true?

Thats what I said, "Actually everyone here has only offered hearsay" general statement doesn't reflect on you. Talk and pictures will not make or break wolf 19a's engine, its all ready built, all ready been running so might as well use it to gain back some of that investtment. Some have had luck with .050 or more over and otheres have not, same can be said for motors that are .050 and under. i agree the less you can bore to clean up a cylinder the better but wolf doesn't have that option now, plus he has the knowledge of knowing the motor ran and ran with a supercharger. So what the hell, go for it I think the risk is low. Keep an eye on it, not like he's going racing with it.

Only thing that caught my attention, in the original post he stated he didn't get what he paid for, so hopefully the engine he posses is the same one that he saw run. Who knows? Also seems you have some behind the "post" information, your mentioning he heard the engine run, much less with a supercharger, is new news....again I just hope its the same engine....and hope it works well for him. later

Oh sorry, yes I have some behind the "post" information, wolf's a good friend of mine got me to drive hundreds of miles on Thanks Giving Last Year to pick up his engine, yeah missed Thanks Giving with the family and everything. Than I helped him tear it down and all looks well, looks very well can't tell the thickness of the cylinders but sure can tell its been running and running clean. Ok wolfy my weekends are open in Novemeber lets go for it, lets do the swap! We need a project anyways might as well be this one, get toner(another guy we know) all upset. Hee Hee

So my next question for th smart guys watchingis whether I can use 24lb injectors and 70-75mm Mass Air with the stock computer?

My experience with Mustangs is that you can go with 24lbs but not any bigger without some software work.

I'll be sure and post progress [and success] of mine and [mostly] BOSSIND's handywork in the near future.

Thanks!
